2011 Winner Young Achiever

Thomas ZambonSweet Talk Awards
Young Achiever of the Year

Congratulations - Thomas Zambon

“The one thing I wish I knew when I was diagnosed was that my life was going to be the same as before and nothing can stand in my way.” - Thomas Zambon

‘My greatest challenge has been dealing with other peoples negative attitudes and convincing people that I'm still me and that I haven't changed.” - Thomas Zambon

Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at eight years of age, Thomas’ amazing bravery and strength has earned him immense admiration.  He never complained about his diagnosis and was much more concerned about others than himself, even though he had to face the fact that he may never be able to go back to his great love - karate.

Not only did Thomas learn to manage his diabetes but he also went back to karate, with his commitment and determination paying off as he became an Australian Champion.

Thomas has now won four state titles, was runner up at last years national titles and Queensland’s full-contact title.  He has also raised $2000 for the Great Australian Bite and regularly fundraises for JRDF and karate.

Thomas is a true inspiration to all those around him.
