“Manage your diabetes and get on with life!” - Damien Goodman
Damien was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at four years of age and now a decade later he is a happy, healthy and inspirational young man who has never let diabetes stop him from achieving his goals.
At age seven Damien started playing baseball, a sport he loves and continues to excel at. His talent and commitment enabled him to represent his country, playing in a world baseball competition in Japan and competing in a world tournament in America.
Travelling with his team-mates and staying with host families in Japan & America, has meant Damien left the usual support of his parents and successfully took full responsibility for his own diabetes management.
A terrific example to other teenagers with diabetes, Damien has proven that despite the challenges of living with diabetes, you can still achieve whatever goals you set your mind to.
