Senior Achiever of the Year

Congratulations - Sue Scudds (nee Falconer)

Sue was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes back in 1976.  From those early days of boiling needles twice a day and testing urine samples before injecting, to the new 'state of the art' blood glucose monitors, Sue has shown immense determination in both her diabetes management and on concentrating on refereeing Volleyball games.

Sue has refereed an amazing 6,000 international, national, state and local volleyball games over a 35-year period - attaining a World and Australian Sports Record.

Acknowledged by Former WA Premier, Geoff Gallop ,"Because of the Sue Scudds’ of this world we have a powerful tradition of Community Sport in Australia" and thanked for her commitment by the Hon. Kate Ellis, Federal Minister for Sport, Sue’s persistence and determination has not held her back from immense achievements.
